Why GM and Ford in a Hurry to Make Electric Pickups

GM and Ford are in a rush to come up with revolutionary designs on their most popular pickup trucks to replace petroleum-powered engines with batteries. This is in an effort to trump Tesla's plan to surpass them. GM's Chevrolet Silverado and Ford's F-150 pickup trucks are the best-selling rides in America. Ford's Chairman, Bill Ford, said that it's likely going to be a game-changer for the entire industry. Ford also revealed some information on the electrified F-series—like the pickup might be equipped with load-carrying room under the hood on top of the traditional bed in the back. An electric F-series can be an ideal work truck, as its batteries can be used as a job site power source. The American car manufacturer will apparently commit $11.5 billion to electrify its cars come 2022, including throwing in 16 full-fledged electric models.
