VW Planning to Make an Electric Pickup Truck for the US

Might not happen yet at least in 5 years, as per Johan de Nysschen, VW America's chief operating officer, during an interview at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. It's not in the pipeline—no business plan nor a proposal yet because it's also not a priority at this point. There are far more important projects VW needs to tackle first. But if this pickup truck does materialize, it will be an electric one to help it really shine in the market—especially keeping in mind the tough competition in the truck arena. Volkswagen has already mentioned potential pickup trucks for the US. They had the Tanoak concept based from the Atlas SUV. However, the issue there is the price of utilizing the SUV as the foundation for a cheaper vehicle.
