Uber’s Competitors Cautious of its Newest Goals

Recently been through a lawsuit settlement last month, Uber already has some bold trial and expansion plans. And CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has revealed a new rival: mass transport. He’s looking at running the bus systems for a city, as per his tech talk hosted by Goldman Sachs in San Francisco. He said he wanted customers to be able to ride an Uber and get in and out of the subway with an Uber waiting. Though these goals may look like a normal business expansion for Uber, rivals deem it as the initial signs of a transportation monopoly. Just in late January, the ride-hailing company mentioned they’re collaborating with bike-rental startup Jump to let San Francisco customers order bikes via its app. And they also recently launched Uber Express Pool, a feature that brings together carpooling customers to meet at a common pickup and drop-off spot for a discounted price.
