Uber to Resume Self-Driving Car Testing
Uber is looking to resume testing on public roads almost 8 months after one of its self-driving test cars had an accident and killed a pedestrian in Arizona. They just recently filed a request with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to test in Pittsburgh. The ridesharing company also issued a long safety report promising to assign 2 human backup drivers in each car and add other precautionary measures to ensure cars' safety. Authorities say they still got a long way to go to regain public trust after that March 18 incident in Tempe, AZ. Apparently, Uber's backup driver then was watching the show “The Voice” on her phone and looking downward before the collision.
