Self-driving Shuttles are On The Horizon

Continental, Robert Bosch and ZF Friedrichshafen are creating dynamic people-mover shuttles that may turn to big-scale usage of commercial autonomous fleets. These German providers featured city shuttles that bring people on “the first or last mile” of their journey. Also, one or more of these rides, many of which can accommodate up to 15 pax, might soon work as a delivery van for fleet companies like Amazon and FedEx, etc. Ideally, these shuttles should be operating regularly to pay off the insane price tag of their sensors, computers and maintenance, as per one of ZF's board member. Apparently, many are interested in driverless shuttles and they can be driving 24/7. The 3 German suppliers featured their ideas at the recently concluded CES in Las Vegas.
