Recalling Some BMWs in the US and Canada

BMW is recalling 136,188 some X5 and X6 models, 5 series and 6 series in the US as well as 18,284 in Canada because of incorrectly crimped wiring for the fuel pump in the gas tank. This can cause leaking fuel, as the loose wires can become too hot and melt. Drivers may smell gas stench inside the car and will notice a check engine light in the dash. No accidents, injuries or deaths related to issue have been reported. BMW dealerships will swap the fuel pump, which may take a few hours to finish. A notice snail mail with appointment date will be sent to owners after December 5.
