Patented In-car Air Freshener System by Toyota

Toyota has always been known as a conservative carmaker with regard to following the latest technology, making this most recent patent a bit funny. Apparently, the patent includes a feature that will emit tear gas into the vehicle. The deadly gas is piped in when the car recognizes an illegal engine start. That's most probably the most savage thing the Japanese automaker has ever done in what seems like an eternity. Don't you agree? This is just a part of a bigger plan of patenting a fragrance system akin to Mercedes' wherein one can pick the type of scent you want released out of the air vents. While it's an innovative feature that can be useful in freshening the cabin of any nasty odors, it can also get irritating with strong and extended usage. Toyota's car air freshener system shall ideally be more seamless and personalized than whatever is available on the market currently—because it's intended to automatically recognize who's getting into the car using their smartphones. Then it will emit the driver's scent of choice.
