Nissan Unveils An e-Bio Fuel-Cell Van

Nissan Motors launches on the streets of Brazil an e-Bio fuel-cell NV200 van model that runs on bio-ethanol and provides a 372+ miles of driving range. The bio-ethanol produced by the prototype van is converted into hydrogen (via an electrochemical process), which then powers the auto. While transforming ethanol into hydrogen generates carbon dioxide like other fuel cells, the Japanese automakers say growing plants that yield bio-ethanol offsets the CO2 emissions. This environmentally-friendly van is said to provide 30-liter tank for ethanol and a 24-kilowatt-hour battery. Specs are expected to change, as this is just a prototype.
