Hawaii to Enjoy its Own Toyota Ride Sharing Service
The Aloha State can now take advantage of its very own car sharing service, courtesy of Toyota. The Japanese carmaker recently announced that it has teamed up with Servco, its Hawaiian distributor, to create the needed technology. Though it’s still trying out the tech on staff, Servco will make the service available by end of 2017. Toyota states the app will identity and verify users, utilize their mobile phones to lock and unlock the vehicles, handle payments, and support fleet management for the new ride sharing biz. Just earlier this year, Toyota also started collaborating with Getaround to test a vehicle sharing system that’s available to folks residing in the mainland US. If this one goes pretty well, Toyota aims to partner with other dealers and or distributors to scale to other markets.
