General Motors to Build New EVs in Michigan
GM recently announced that they will build a new a completely electrified Chevy car. This will equate to $1.8 B and 700 new jobs at manufacturing ops in 6 states plus $300 M and 400 new jobs at the automaker's Orion Assembly factory in Detroit, MI. GM CEO Mary Barra said this will materialize in the following 2-3 years. This new Chevy electric car shall be inspired by the all-electric Bolt EV, which the Orion presently builds along with the Chevy Sonic subcompact. The American car company originally planned to build the car abroad but CEO Barra didn't reveal the exact location. GM also refused to give more details regarding the EV or its possible launching date.
