General Motors Introducing Self-Driving Ridesharing Cars in 2019
Recently, Ford announced they’d offer autonomous ride-hailing cars by 2021. However, General Motors will beat them to it if their plan to introduce commercial driverless cars in 2019 materializes. GM CEO Dan Ammann, who occupies a board seat at Lyft, made the announcement during an event in San Francisco. Apparently, GM and Lyft decided last year to collaborate on introducing a system of on-demand self-driving cars across America. No announcement yet where GM will deploy these driverless cars. But they’re currently testing self-driving Chevy Bolts in San Francisco; Scottsdale, AZ; and Warren, MI. It’ll likely include NYC in 2018.
