Futuristic Headlights that Automatically Dim Might Be Coming Soon
Looks like US car safety authorities are relaxing a bit and letting a new breed of brighter, self-dimming headlights that are non-blinding to other drivers in front of you. As per an announcement made recently, the NHTSA is suggesting to allow those so-called adaptive driving beam headlights on new vehicles. The high-tech headlights basically work as high-beam headlights at all times but self-dim particular parts of the beam to generate less light on oncoming cars detected by sensors. Apparently, this new tech might help minimize risk of crashes by upping visibility minus the glare. It can give possibly huge safety advantages in preventing collisions among pedestrians, cyclists, animals and roadside things.
