Ford to Experiment Online Sales Models in China

Ford is utilizing the biggest automobile market in the world to test other options to conventional dealer showrooms. The American carmaker recently announced they’re partnering with Alibaba Group Holding to look at selling Ford cars in China via Alibaba’s online shopping site, Tmall. While Ford hasn’t shared any particular plans, this collaboration will likely include integrating some type of a “car vending machine” model—wherein buyers simply tap on their smartphones to peruse cars contained in a collection several stories high, then wait as they're transported to the ground floor. Analysts say Ford’s venture into alternative selling method is totally viable in China since its market is greatly competitive and primed for growth.
