Ford Aims for Cars to Communicate w/ Traffic Lights, Public Transport, Pedestrians
During the Consumer Electronics Show, Ford said they’ll develop an open, cloud-based system that lets various components of a city’s transport program to work together to move people much more safely and efficiently. It will share actual data between different transport means plus the individuals connected with them—from personal cars to pedestrians, bikes, public transit, traffic lights and parking venues. There are already vehicles chatting about traffic data and road cautions to fellow vehicles, but the American carmaker is bringing this connectivity concept to another level. Data communication on a real-time basis activated by this system can boost traffic movement through several channels, decreasing congestion. Also, app developers and corporations can check into the system’s features to come up with new services to help customers get around better.
