​Even Light Drizzling Greatly Boosts The Risk of a Fatal Crash

Well, as per findings from the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, it also does boost the risk of a deadly collision. The AP reports, the study discovered that it actually increases the risk by 27%. In total, the study asserted that as the roads get wetter, they become deadlier, too. Actually, throw in some rain, snow and ice, and fatal wrecks go up by 34%. This research examined 125,012 fatal collisions that happened in the continental US from 2016-2012. It also considered the # of cars on the streets and utilized weather radar information to more accurately compute the risk of a deadly crash. And it seems like drivers slow down as it begins to pour heavily, and underestimate the risk of a light shower.
