Dutch Students Created a Biodegradable Car
Some Dutch students deem a truly green car, isn’t just electric—it must be biodegradable, too. And they built exactly just that. These ingenious inventors from Netherlands came up with a compostable, lightweight electric car that can travel at 50 mph. Lina, the bio e-car is made of resin sourced from sugar beets and covered with sheets of locally-grown flax. The only parts that aren’t yet from biodegradable materials are the wheels and suspension systems. For now, Lina is just a prototype and hasn’t yet passed crash tests, as it will not bend like metal, but break, according to the team’s leader Noud van de Gevel.
