Dodge Charger Thrives Despite Sedans' Decline
There's no slowing down for this no ordinary sedan, at least in the income department. Sales of the Dodge Charger grew by 8.8% in the 1st half of 2019 compared to last year to 45,046. Though total sales of sedans have dropped, the Charger is still getting some traction because of its character and can't be quickly swapped for a utility car. Dodge is looking to improve revenue with their ongoing Power Dollars promotion that provides a cash deduction worth $10 for every unit of rated horsepower on Charger, Durango and Challenger models. For example, if you purchase the 707-hp Charger SRT Hellcat, you can enjoy a $7,070 rebate. When asked about the secret to maintaining sales high despite sedans' gradual downfall, Kevin Hellman, Dodge's brand manager, said that the Charger is unique that while it's a sedan, it's also considered a muscle car. And that it can do a lot of awesome stuff. It also looks great. Other sedans have zero personality, making them quickly replaceable.
