Diesel Is Here to Stay
Diesel isn’t going anytime soon, as per Japan’s Horiba, an electronics firm that manufactures equipment for measuring vehicle emissions. Their device was used to catch the cheating software Volkswagen set up on its diesel-powered cars to avoid regulations. Horiba’s CEO, Atsushi Horiba, says there’s no hint of truth to gossips telling diesel is virtually dead. He believes electric vehicles and emission-less cars won’t totally replace diesel cars. Infrastructure-wise, EVs charging may only work well in dense urban settings but not so much in rural environments with small population. EVs may have become increasingly popular in the past few years but they’re just less than 1% of new vehicles sold in the US.
