Continental Partners with NVIDIA for AI-powered Autonomous Car Systems

Car supplier Continental and tech company NVIDIA recently announced their joint venture to build AI autonomous car systems based on NVIDIA's technology. They're planning to launch it in 2021 for Level 3 self-driving features. This JV allows for the building AI computer systems to grow from simple Level 2 features to full Level 5 autonomous driving capacities, wherein the car doesn't have a steering wheel or pedals. Specialized engineering teams from each firms will be collaborating to come up with self-driving solutions based on the NVIDIA Drive platform. The system will also utlilize Continental's expertise in system and software engineering for ASIL D-rated safety, which is the top level, plus incorporate an array of their sensor tech like camera, radar and high-res 3D LiDAR.
