Congress is Open About Trying AV Legislation Again

Congress will be looking at renewing efforts to pass a law that about deployment of self-driving cars on roads all over the US one of these days. House and Senate authorities are asking for advice from a host of stakeholders to help create an autonomous driving vehicle bill that tackles everything—from web security issues to access for people with disabilities. A letter from the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation reported that lawmakers are coming up with a "bipartisan and bicameral basis" to lay groundwork for a bill. Stakeholders' statements will be due on August 23rd. After Congress meets sometime in September, policy analysts and transportation leaders believe that, despite broad polarization, they foresee an authentic and eager effort to prioritize the legislation. This shall be the 2nd try to make this a possibility.
