Automakers Plea for More Relaxed Self-Driving Car Rules in CA

Various car makers implored California to loosen up its rules and restrictions for self-driving cars, asserting the state didn’t address their previous complaints. During a public hearing, car companies wanted to drop some extra proposed guidelines and give much of the oversight to the NHTSA. However, safety and consumer devotees urged CA to implement stringent administration. And a SFO official even mentioned cities must be given more local control. A handful of car makers have conveyed their plans to start deploying autonomous cars by 2020-2021.
