Apple Slashes 200 Staff from Project Titan
Apple apparently decided to regroup about 200 workers who were part of the covert self-driving car program called Project Titan, as per CNBC. A rep from the tech company said some employees working on the program will be transferred to other projects within the organization dealing with machine learning and other relevant projects. According to Bloomberg and an FBI report from July 2018, roughly 5000+ Apple staff allegedly knew about the said clandestine autonomous driving initiative. Same report mentioned that 2,700 of them had broader knowledge plus access to related systems. The technology giant is notorious for being highly protective of their projects that they ban specific access to staff so that designers and engineers handling MacBooks for instance don't mix with those handling iPhones and so on—to keep things under wraps.
