Apple Employs Former Waymo Engineer for Autonomous Driving Project
Apple may seem to be a bit hush hush about its autonomous driving ventures compared to Uber or Google, but the tech giant is still on it. As per The Information, Apple has just recently employed Jamie Waydo, a renowned engineer from Waymo’s self-driving car department. This move may mean that Apple is coming closer to coming up with a prototype or perhaps that it’s all set to begin displaying its progress. In any case, Apple has to hustle and step up their game if they want to stay relevant in the cut-throat industry of self-driving vehicles. Also, apparently, Waydo was the head of systems engineering when she was with Waymo and was pivotal in the company’s tests in Phoenix and improvements that allow Waymo eliminate human backup drivers from the cars.
