2017 Chevy Bolt Requires Software Update
GM is alerting 2017 Chevy Bolt EV owners to bring their cars to dealerships for a software update that’ll shortly spot a probable battery problem that could result to a decrease or loss of acceleration. The campaign comes from a setting that fails to distinguish the difference in the charge status between cell groups in the battery. Because of the issue, the car may get “sufficient warning prior to a battery cell low-voltage condition, which may result in a loss of propulsion.” As per a GM rep, just a “small % of vehicles may experience” the power loss. Also, the carmaker is giving the advisory to all 2017 Bolt owners worldwide to get their software updated. The said update won’t fix any underlying battery problem but offers owners with an earlier caution that they may undergo a decrease or propulsion loss and to bring the car on for service.
